Ep. 23- The Journey From D3 to the NFL w/ Nicholas Morrow

Chicago Bears Linebacker Nicholas Morrow shares his story

For today’s episode, I’m joined by NFL Linebacker Nicholas Morrow!

Nick is in his 6th season in the NFL and in his first season w/ the Chicago Bears after spending the previous 5 w/ the Las Vegas Raiders

Nick is known for his versatility on the field and in 2020 was the only player in the NFL to record 3 sacks and 9 passes defensed during the 2020 season.

What really is remarkable about Nick is his story or his journey to the league…Nick went to college at Greenville University, which is a Division school and was undrafted after his senior season.

To those of you who maybe aren’t familiar w/ football and the NFL, Division 3 football is one fo the lower levels of college football and the chances that someone makes it to the league from a D3 school, let alone has a multi year career are slim to none

In fact, as of 2021 only 6 players from D3 school were on active rosters…which is only 0.35% of of the athletes in the league!

Needless to say Nick has defied some EXTREMELY long odds.

In this conversation, w/ nick  we discuss:

  • his Long winding journey to league

  • nicks mentality when he was unknown and few people believe in him

  • really get into the real psyche and daily life of a professional athlete.

  • What traits besides your traditional speed, power, agility actually make a great football player,

And of course so much more!

Nick trains w/ us at Ignite and over the years I’ve gotten to know what a stand up and down to earth guy he is and this becomes clear during this episode
