Ep.6 - My ACL Journey & Exploring an Ecological Approach to Return to Play Programs

Welcome to the Athlete Blueprint Podcast!...A podcast dedicated to long term athletic development and success!

For today's episode, I decided to do a something a little different...A solo episode.  Just you and me!

Following my interview  w/ Steph Allen on all things ACL (if you haven't listened to that one yet, here it is)  I decided I wanted to do dive deep into a topic very personal to me..."My ACL Journey and Exploring Ecological Concepts in Injury Rehab"

As someone who has both personal and professional experience experience w/ ACL and rehab in general, I feel there are significant deficiencies in our current return to play model.

In my opinion, introducing Ecological concepts into our rehab programs can help "bridge the gap" and create better outcomes for our athletes.  We look into all that today.

In this episode, I discuss:

  • My personal ACL Journey

  • Some of the inadequacies w/ current return to play programs

  • The high incident of ACL re-tears

  • Some Ecological Dynamics background and theory

  • Some potential hurdles to an Ecological approach to rehab

  • Some different KPI's to look for in rehabbing athletes

  • How we can tie in perception and action into our return to play programs

  • Some practical ways to introduce ecological concepts into our training sessions

And of course, we discuss so much more!
